The song "It is mercy" has captivated my soul and it has really helped me in my reflection on what life is all about. And it couldn't have come at a better time than that of the Advent season. I am truly grateful to God for all he has done for me. I am happy to be reminded that life is about the works of mercy and not primarily sacrifice. God has been merciful to me over the last 4 years and my entire life has been riddled with struggles but he has continued to remind there is light at the end of the tunnel. |

I never grew up going to church, but my grandma Anna Hake was a devout Catholic. I was baptized, but I didn't go to church and didn't know much about my religion. My grandma didn't force me to go, but always wished that I would go to church with her. I would always go and visit with my grandma and watch movies with her. I would bring her things that she needed, visit and laugh with her. I would bring her to doctor's appointment when she needed to go.
In 2007 she had to have her gallbladder removed. The surgery went fine, but because she couldn't take her blood thinning medication she had a stroke. Due to her total belief in God's will she had a DNR and wanted to die as God had planned for her. We brought her home on hospice and I sat by her bedside day and night for over a week. During this time my faith in God started to grow stronger as I saw the woman I adored die in front of me. This amazing woman that couldn't even speak, eat or wasn't conscience most of the time, would hold her rosary in her hand the entire time as she died. She would go through each bead as though she was saying the rosary.
The one thing that really changed my life and mind about my faith and God was the night that I met Father John Leykam. He came to my grandma's bedside as she died and prayed over her. She adored Father John, she would always talk about how wonderful he was, but until I met him for myself I wouldn't know how true it was. He came over and he sat down next to her bedside and was talking to everyone. I felt uncomfortable so I made myself busy with her medication at the table. He apparently saw this so he had asked me what my name was. This was the first time we had met. I told him my name and he said "Oh, you must be the one your grandma calls her angel". That night I hugged Father John and thanked him, because that to me confirmed that my grandma knew I loved her and she loved me. After my Grandma passed away and things settled down I started the RCIA classes and have been a member of Holy Trinity ever since.
I love Holy Trinity church and Matthew's music has been so healing for me especially the song Hold me Lord! Thank you Matthew!

After a spell i did get up and leave with everyone else. The same thing happened as i prayed for a friend during confession, however that time the feeling was acompanied by crying i could not control! |

I work indoors most of the time. When I do get a chance to see the world outside (nature, sun, clouds, stars, wildlife, plants, trees, the list is endless) it is truly amazing. I think of some who suggest that inanimate matter simply evolves into all this of its own accord - they've got to be kidding! People of course have to be one of God's greatest miracles. |

My nephew Jacob who is 8 was diagnosed with class B leukemia last august. At the age of 4 he had a kidney transplant, his attitude blows me away and his faith is most awesome. After one of his treatments he was cancer free, but for precautions he had to finish his treatment. He is finished with his chemo and has no cells present. He has been an inspiration for me. Please keep him in your prayers. Thank you |

My moment actually involved Matthew and his music. In July 2006, I found out I had lost a baby to miscarriage. I decided for the first time EVER I was going to go to XLT. I was a complete wreck and wondered how I was going to go on. Matthew sang "Hold Me, Lord". I knew at that moment I was going to be okay. It is and always will be my absolute favorite song ever. THANK YOU MATTHEW, FOR SUCH BEAUTIFUL MUSIC AND YOUR MOST WONDERFUL FRIENDSHIP!!! I AM BLESSED TO KNOW YOU!!! MY FAMILY LOVES YOU DEARLY, BROTHER IN JESUS!!!

I was moved to look into as many faces of the ladies there I could see and I was absolutely overwhelmed at the beauty of my sisters in Christ. Even now as I reflect on it that sense of peace and beauty and emotion is filling me. He is awesome! |

I recently spent 2 months in Mexico with my uncle, who is a priest in a very poor town in Yucatan. He has devoted over 55 years to God and is the happiest person I have ever met in my life. Despite the poor living conditions there, the people are extremely happy. Simple things that we take for granted bring them great joy because they have the one thing that everyone needs in their life: our Lord, Jesus Christ. Staying in the 300 year old church for those 2 months were the most peaceful months of my life and the closest I have ever felt to God. |

When my mom had her stroke, she became very ill. However, surgery and God helped her to become her old self again. It was quite a miracle! |

Two words -- silent retreat. Seriously, if you've never done this, it's the best retreat. As Matthew says, "in the silence, find the Lord of Love." Every time I go on silent retreat, Christ's voice is so clear and his will for me so revealing. |

I have two truly 'God moments' in my life! The first is when I came out of a coma in the hospital and learned to talk again after a prognosis of never being able to walk or talk again! Thank You God! for the second chance!!! AND secondly I thank God for my
beautiful wife who also survived serious illness and has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis! Thanks to God- we have each other!! With
God's help we will continue to help others by serving with our Parish Nurse to make up the Health and Wellness committee! Thank God for
'enormously large' miracles! |

When my Dad, just before he passed away, had what I believe was a "glimpse" of heaven. He was disappointed to return to the 6 children and 14 grandchildren that he treasured. Heaven must have been AWESOME!! That made it all real for me. |

This whole past Lent (2007) in every single aspect of everything I was hit over the head with the fact that I have control over nothing and have to completely trust God to take care of everything, particularly my job. It is humbling on a daily basis, but something I am finally getting a better, more joyful grasp upon. |

There are so many "God Moments" in my life it's hard to pinpoint just one, but what I really love is when I'm singing at church with friends and the Holy Spirit makes the music into an amazing prayer and the congregation is singing and praying with you and you reach the end and all you can do is say, "AMEN!!!" |
